Rural Environment Funding
Conservation & Sustainable Use of Local Biodiversity & Water Resources and Harnessing our Natural Resources
This aims to provide support for the protection, conservation and sustainable use of our natural environment including water resources for future generations. The efficient use of energy and uptake of renewable energy by community groups, businesses and individuals will be promoted. Awareness raising and learning from best practice on our natural environment, renewable technologies and biomass will be encouraged.

Support will be provided for the protection and conservation of water resources through increased awareness, innovative uses of natural supplies and new technologies. Training initiatives will be developed which involves a practical approach to the installation of rainwater and grey water harvesting systems. Capital Funding will also be available for organisations that are proactive in the preservation of their local water resources and natural environment. A wide range of training initiatives will be developed which offer intensive hands on courses focusing on the preservation of the environment. Community energy projects and the development of wood energy supply chain projects will be encourage along with practical training in small scale renewable energy.

How to Apply for Rural Environment Funding?
The submission of an Expression of Interest Form is the first step in applying for LEADER Funding. It is your opportunity to present your proposed project to the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) who will determine if your project is eligible for funding and if you can advance to the next stage of the Application Process. Please ensure that you read the Information Booklet in full which gives an overview of the LEADER Programme in County Leitrim. It will also give you information on who can apply, the types of projects which are eligible for funding and the rates of funding available. Once you submit your fully complete Expression of Interest Form Leitrim Development Company will contact you to outline if your proposed project is eligible for funding or not and if you can proceed to full Application.
