Post: Rural Social Scheme (RSS) Supervisor
Rural Social Scheme participants are small farmers or their spouses who work on a variety of projects including village enhancement, culture and heritage projects, maintenance of walkways, administration, pre and after-school projects social care and caretaking
- The recruitment of participants for the RSS scheme
- The supervision, support and management of participants, including monitoring time and attendance
- To work with the Labour Market Schemes Coordinator to match participants with suitable work based on their skills,knowledge and geographical location
- To support community groups with the implementation of their local work plans and manage the output of participants in line with the work plan
- To ensure that the scheme complies with all regulations set out by the Department of Social Protection
- To ensure that all work complies with the organisational and statutory health and safety regulations and legislation.
- To promote and represent the RSS and highlight the benefits of the scheme
- To ensure that participants understand and follow company policy and procedures
- To manage and work within the agreed budget and maintain all paperwork and follow procurement guidelines
- To work closely with all relevant stakeholders to assist communities in the development of various projects which may arise.
- To identify training needs of participants and organise work specific training
- Working as part of a team with other RSS Supervisors and other employment programme Supervisors within the Company
- Reviewing designated RSS projects on an ongoing basis
- Facilitating the evaluation and appraisal of the RSS Programme
- Ensuring that the work of the RSS Programme is at all times in support of the overall aims of Leitrim Development Company and
- the empowerment of individuals and communities
- Working as part of a team to organise and attend events to promote employment programmes within the Company.
- Other duties required for the orderly operation of the RSS and other project areas of the Company.
- Maintaining appropriate records in both written and computerised formats
- Supervision of compliance with health and safety requirements
- Setting, managing and monitoring work schedulesand attaining targets
- Delivery on work-specific training
- Maintain records and reports on IT system and participation training on the use of the system
- Attend staff and team meetings as required
- Review and update participant files and comply with GDPR guidelines
Skills & Experience Required:
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the field of community development
- The ability to be self-motivating and a self-starter·
- Demonstrate ability to relate to and support participants
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience of supervision or management
- Demonstrate a high level of computer literacy
- Demonstrate communication skills to work with community
- groups and with your colleagues in the organisation
- Possess an understanding and appreciation of the needs and issues of the unemployed and other target groups of Leitrim Development Company along with the related Social Inclusion issues
- Possess the required vocational skills and educational qualifications to execute the job in the required manner
- Demonstrate valid experience of responsibility for health & safety in a previous role
- Full clean driver’s licence and own transport
Terms & Conditions of Employment:
- Hours of work are 40 per week.
- Some evening work may be necessary

- A probationary period of 6 months will apply
