Day Care Services
A community Day Service is a social support for Older People and People living with physical or mental disabilities, to enable them to live independently for as long as possible. It offers a safe space for people to socialise, get their personal needs met and to stimulate their body and mind. These services are funded by the HSE.
Leitrim Development Company has operated Drumkeeran Day Service for Older People since 2011, employing two staff to run the service. The Day Service in Drumkeeran runs on Tuesday and Thursday each week, offering occupational activities, exercises, a hot meal, assisted showering, laundry service and outings. Referrals for this service are usually made by a Public Health Nurse or other health professional, however self-referrals will be considered.
In 2014 Leitrim Development Company was asked to take over the running of the new Mohill and Ballinamore Community Day Care Services. The new service in Mohill commenced in February 2015, operating on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The service in Ballinamore commenced in mid-2015.
