Carrick Day Boats were awarded funding for their new start-up business based in Carrick on Shannon - Day Boat Hire which included the purchase five new electric self-drive motor boats for tourists, day-trippers, locals, and other users. The boats are environmentally friendly in terms of emissions. They are also low in terms of noise pollution thereby not disturbing wildlife on the river. They are 7-seater, all electric with a max speed of 6 kph. Customers are shown how to operate the boat safely together with being provided with the necessary safety equipment. This project is a highly innovative project providing a fresh, modern-day, sustainable, and enjoyable way for tourists and visitors of all ages to enjoy the waters around Carrick-on-Shannon.
